# Number Names

In 1st grade, you have studied number names up to 20. Now here you will learn names of the larger number. You have already learned the number-names from 1 to 20 and also number-names of 30,40,50,60,70,80,90 and 100. Here we will use the number-names of these numbers.**Example 1:**Write the 128 in words.

**Solution :**

First write the given number in expanded form and write the name of each number below it and then combine that name.

**128 = 100 + 20 + 8**

= One Hundred + Twenty + Eight

= One Hundred + Twenty + Eight

So the number-name of 128 is

**one hundred twenty eight.**

**Example 2:**Write the 412 in words.

**Solution :**

First write the given number in expanded form and write the name of each number below it and then combine that name.

**412 = 400 + 10 + 2**

= Four Hundred + Ten + two

= Four Hundred + Ten + two

So the number-name of 128 is

**Four hundred twelve .**

(twelve is used for ten + 2)

(twelve is used for ten + 2)

**Example 3:**Write the 685 in words.

**Solution :**

First write the given number in expanded form and write the name of each number below it and then combine that name.

**685 = 600 + 80 + 5**

= Six Hundred + Eighty + Five

= Six Hundred + Eighty + Five

So the number-name of 128 is

**Six hundred eighty five .**

Some times we have number-names and from that we have to write the number.

**Example 1:**Write in numeral of Two hundred twenty four.

**Solution:**

First write the number-name, below that write each numeral and then combine them together. For making it easy I am giving plus sign between each number.

**Two hundred + twenty + four**

200 + 20 + 4

= 224

200 + 20 + 4

= 224

**Example 2:**Write in numeral of Three hundred fifty six.

**Solution:**

First write the number-name, below that write each numeral and then combine them together. For making it easy I am giving plus sign between each number.

**Three hundred + fifty + six**

300 + 50 + 6

= 356

300 + 50 + 6

= 356
