Formation Of Greatest And Smallest Number
In the formation of greatest and smallest number, the digits are arranged accordingly.
Greatest number :
1) From the given digits, first compare the two numbers.
2) Write tens and ones at the top.
3) Greatest digit below tens and smallest digit below ones.
In this way greatest number is formed using two digits.
Example 1 : Find the greatest digit using 5 and 2.
Follow the above procedure.
Now from these two digits 5 > 2 So 5 should be at tens place and 2 is at unit place.
Tens Ones
5 2 So greatest number formed is 52.
Example 2 : Find the greatest number using 3 and 9.
Now from these two digits 9 > 3 So 9 should be at tens place and 3 is at unit place.
So greatest number formed is 93.
Smallest number :
1) From the given digits, first compare the two numbers.
2) Write tens and ones at the top.
3) Smallest digit below tens and largest digit below ones.
In this way smallest number is formed using two digits.
Example 1 : Find the smallest number using 2 and 9.
Follow the above procedure.
Now from these two digits 2 > 9 So 2 should be at tens place and 9 is at unit place.
Tens Ones
2 9
so the number formed is 29.
Example 2: Find the smallest number using 1 and 8.
Now from these two digits 1 < 8 So 1 should be at tens place and 8 is at unit place.
So greatest number formed is 18.
